Marlboro – Origin of the Name

Names are the identity of the cigarette brands, as they are should symbolize the character and the essence of the product. What is the origin of the name Marlboro. First of all you should know that this denomination comes from the common word - Marlborough. There are many places called Marlborough all over the world – England, Australia, Canada, USA, New Zealand etc. Perhaps the initial name was not very unique or original. How was it changed to Marlboro? Well, there was nothing special. Phillip Morris, the founder of the company, opened a shop in which he was selling tobacco and rolled cigarettes. This was in 1847 and the location was Bond Street, London, UK. After his death, relatives took care of the business, and eventually it grew enough for a first factory to be opened. The factory was located on Great Marlborough Street, London and the owners decided to go for a simple name – Marlboro.

Marlboro nowadays is the largest selling brand of cigarettes in the world. Indeed they are widely popular based on their old and famous advertising with the cowboy. The ad was created in the 1950’s to convince the auditory of male smokers to buy Marlboro cigarettes, which were being sold as feminine until then. An like the experience shows this cowboy publicity did the trick.

Notwithstanding the fact that Marlboro is an expensive smoking tobacco and this is reasonable, still you can find this product at cut-price in our online discount cigarette shop. You should not overpay for the product which you can purchase it a much lower price at our online cigarettes store. Allocate your expenses rationally due to us for buying Marlboro cigarettes

Pretty bad reply IMO. Publicity for your cigarette store doesn't add to any history of Marlboro or Marlborough. Go away, after deleting this irrelevant post, unless you surprise us with knowledge.

Are you paying more than $5 per pack of cigs? I buy my cigarettes at Duty Free Depot and this saves me over 70% on cigarettes.
